For the longest time I kept the name of my blog, “Patrick’s Blog.” It just made sense, that is Me, its a blog, bod-a-bing bod-a-boom, Title! I always thought to myself, “Man, it would be awesome to have a life quote that I could use for my title.” And I left it at that.
Well, you never get anything if you don’t go looking for it.
So I went a lookin’. I started to consume knowledge. I say “consume” because all too often I glance over knowledge, info, wisdom, or teaching. No matter who said it: C.S. Lewis, Bonhoeffer, St. Paul, or even GOD, I would glance over it, saying “oh that’s good to hear.” Instead of “good to hear” I sought after “good to take to heart.”
Romans 6:8-11 was a passage that I started to consume, w/ verse 10 being “good to take to heart.”
Now if you have died w/ Christ, we believe that we will also live w/ him. We know that Christ, being raised from the dead, will never die again; death no longer has dominion over him. For the death he died he died to sin, once for all, but the life he lives he lives to God. So you also must consider yourselves dead to sin & alive to God in Christ Jesus. Romans 6:8-11 ESV
I have died w/ Christ so I am now alive with him due to His resurrection. He died to sin, so I died to sin. He lives for God, so I live for God. “But the life,” captures my heart & mind. It makes my life second to God. At first, that hurt, but if he truly looks over my sin with love (Psalm 103:10,11) then I have nothing else to give him then my life.
“but the life he lives he lives to God”
“but the life I live I live to God”
“But the life” title encompasses the drive that I have for each day & how I aspire to live.
So join me, in living a life to God.
